We Have Officially Moved

So this week marks the beginning of a fresh start for ‘A Mom’s Fresh Start.’ We have official moved and have our own domain now. You can find us at http://amomsfreshstart.com. You can go there now if you like and check out the changes. I suggest you change you feeds and readers to the new location that way you can continue to follow us. Hope you like the change. It is still … and probably will always be … a work in progress.

Summer Sponsored by Solo

This month we had the opportunity to participate in the “Summer Sponsored by Solo” program. The provided us with a kit full of fun summer snacks, games and cups. We Basically took the time to utilize all the various items in the box together as a family and see how we enjoyed the experience.

While my child isn’t quite old enough to enjoy … well about anything in the box yet (he’s still chilling in my belly), I do have friends with children who I knew would love to have fun with the toys and enjoy the snacks. So I called up my friends to see if they were willing to allow me to borrow their family for a couple of hours while we watched them enjoy the activities and took a few pics.

It is awesome to do participate in a sponsor program like this becuase no matter how much older I become, seeing those red Solo cups do always remind of summer being in the sun with friends and family having fun. Glad to see I’m not the only one that feels that way. No matter how many times they redesign their cups, its still the same Solo.

Listen to that Heart Beat

heartbeat

My husband and I have two fairly large puppy dogs that are just bundles of joy to play, watch and laugh with … most of the time. The other times they are both just little terrors with their barking, continuously trying to escape, and chewing up everything. The puppies are Shadow and Sandy and they are brother and sister, same parents but from a different litter 9 months apart. When we got Shadow, we knew he would be a handful, but had no clue when we got Sandy how much of a beast she would be also.

Well it was clear from the tone and consistency of the Sandy barks this morning that Shadow was no longer near her and she was calling him from across the yard. Usually during the night (because they are escape artist) they are chained up near the house. I got out side to discover he in deed did escape and was nearing the fence which has a hole near the bottom that he could have squeezed through. Luckily we caught him in time. Sadly though, he was just a little too happy to see me outside this morning. Before I knew it, he had charged at me full speed and had his paws up to reach my waist to say hi. Typically not a bad thing, except he paws went straight for the baby. Not good … and to make it worse, I wasn’t feeling the little one move around anymore.

Once we got him tied back up, I went right back inside and straight to my Graco Bébé Sound Prenatal Heart Listener to make sure my little one was still ticking. I know, I was probably being way too paranoid but to me it felt really hard. It took me a few moments but sure enough there was a super strong and fast heart beat. Whew! I always knew my little one was strong,

That is when I realized how grateful I was to have this heart listener. When my husband and I were registering for our gifts we came across it and thought it would be the best thing in the world to have. Well for the first few months, it didn’t work as expected. And we should have known better because it says it right there on the box, best used during the third trimester. The first few months we heard nothing but the baby’s kicks and movements. I had almost given up on using it and forgot about it until this morning when I needed it. And wow, I had never heard the baby’s heart beat so strong and loud before. If only I could find the cord needed to connect it to the compurter I would record a few seconds so you can hear how clear and smooth you can hear you little one. I totally recommend getting this Prenatal Heart Listener to any expectant mommy out there.

Working on Upgrading

I have been looking into different ways that I can upgrade and expand on this blog to better provide my readers with information, resources and valuable life lessons. Over the next few weeks I will be working on the following changes.

  1. Getting my own domain. While wordpress.com is awesome, it is slightly limiting on what I can do with it. So I will be upgrading and getting a wordpress.org site. Excited for that.
  2. I will be redesigning the layout. While this lay out is pretty nice, I don’t think is speaks to all the other mommy’s out there. Again wordpress only has a handful of themes to choice from, now I will have plenty of more to choose from and tweak to make my own.
  3. I will be spending some much needed time building up some good content articles to share with you. While going through the last stages of this pregnancy is awesome, I am sure you will want to hear about other stuff unrelated to it.

Okay, so those are the major changes that will be coming. So if you have the rss feed saved, I will notify you once the new site is up and running so you can have that changed. I will probably leave this one open for a while with the last post mentioning the big move. Stay tuned and have an awesome weekend.
